Mercy Baseball Upends Queens 6-2

The Mercy College baseball team (12-17; 5-9 ECC) scored three runs in the bottom of the third and cruised to a 6-2 win over Queens College (8-25; 6-13 ECC) on Monday. The game was rescheduled and played at Queens, and Mercy remained the home team.

Senior Steve Marsar (Seaford, N.Y./Holy Trinity) started and earned the win, hurling six innings. He allowed just three hits and two earned runs, while fanning three.

Senior Mike Ferrante (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) had a two-RBI single in the third to break the game open. Classmate Graig Lauricella (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) was the only Maverick with multiple hits, banging out a pair of singles.

Game Five of the Queens series is set for Tuesday, April 19, in Dobbs Ferry. The C. W. Post series is set to begin the following day.
