Mercy Baseball Drops 5-0 Decision to C.W. Post
The Mercy baseball team took a 5-0 loss at the hands of C.W.
Post on Friday afternoon. All five runs came with two outs. Mercy
had taken the previous two meetings this week.
The Pioneers plated three runs on a bases-loaded triple in the
fifth, and got two more on a double in the ninth.
Mercy (14-18, 7-11 East Coast Conference) started Charles DeHart (Staten Island, N.Y./St.
Peter's Boys), who lasted six innings, and gave
up three runs on five hits. Sophomore Tommy Cummings (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop
Shanahan) threw the final three innings, giving up a
pair of ninth inning runs. Paul Bischoff threw a complete game to
earn the win for the Pioneers (8-27, 6-13 ECC).
Senior Julio Torres (Harlingen, Texas/Harlingen
South) had a pair of hits for Mercy, while Anthony Simon (Sloatsburg,
N.Y./Suffern) and Andrew Bock (Malverne, N.Y./Valley Stream
North) each reached base safely twice each.
Games Four and Five of the series are slated for Saturday, April
23, at C. W. Post.
