#6 Mercy Men's Lacrosse Rolls to 10-7 Win Over Seton Hill
The #6 Mercy College men's lacrosse team earned its
eleventh win of the year, beating visiting Seton Hill University
10-7 on Saturday. The game was the final home game for Mercy this
season.
The Mavericks (11-2; 7-2 ECC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the
first quarter on goals from sophomore John Fitzpatrick (Yorktown,
N.Y./Lakeland) and junior Sean
Wallin (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes).
Seton Hill (6-6; 4-5 ECC) scored three unanswered goals to lead
off the second quarter, only to have Mercy score five straight
before halftime. Sophomore Mike Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y./North
Babylon) took the game over during that stretch,
recording a natural hat trick during that span.
The third quarter saw the teams trade goals, before freshman Jesse Wood (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton
Catholic) put Mercy up 10-5 early in the fourth. SHU
got a pair of late goals for the 10-7 final
For the game, Marzocca led all scorers with four goals. Wood
finished with a goal and two assists. For SHU, James Delaney had
three goals.
In goal, Mercy's T.J. DiCarlo (Farmingdale,
N.Y./Farmingdale) made 17 saves, while his counterpart
Christopher Ilse recorded 19.
Mercy celebrated two seniors today, who are winding down their
time in blue and white. They are Nick Fitzgerald (Yorktown, N.Y./Yorktown/SUNY
Delhi) and Bobby Wendel (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip/Suffolk
CC).
The Mavericks complete the regular season on Saturday, May 7, at
Dowling at 7:00 p.m.
