Women's Soccer Defeated by University of Tampa, 11-0
Box Score TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 11, 2011) - On Sunday morning, the Mercy College women's soccer, looking for its first win of the season, were denied as the University of Tampa's strong offense secured an 11-0 victory in Tampa, Fla. With the win, the Spartans improved to 2-2 overall. Following the loss, the Mavericks dropped to 0-4 on the season.
In goal for the Mavericks, freshman Krystal Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) stopped six shots as she saw her record fall to 0-4 on the young campaign. On the other side of the field, Spartans' goalkeeper Emelie Karstrom had two saves.
Mercy's defense was able to hold Tampa to two goals in the first half. However, the second half saw nine unanswered tallies by the Spartans as they went on to lock down their second win of the year.
Head Coach Jonathan Feinstein and the Mavericks return to the field on Tuesday when they host Bentley University in their 2011 home opener. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.
