DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Jan. 28, 2012) – On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College men's basketball squad received a 22-point performance out of junior guard Colin Senior (Hackensack, N.J.), but fell at the hands of East Coast Conference-opponent the University of Bridgeport, 93-81, at Mercy Gymnasium in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. With the win, the Purple Knights improved to 12-7 overall and 7-2 in the league. Following the defeat, the Mavericks dropped to 2-17 on the season and now own a 1-8 mark in the conference.

Bridgeport led throughout the first half with a high-water mark of 11 points. The guests headed into halftime with a 47-36 advantage over the Mavericks, who continued to play their recent up-tempo offense.

The second half stayed in tune with how the first stanza ended – with the Purple Knights ahead by double-digits, but still not able to put the game away for good. With 13:11 remaining, Senior nailed a trey that cut the Mavericks' deficit to just eight points (57-49). However, Mercy couldn't gain momentum as Bridgeport snapped off eight straight points.

Mercy tried to hang with the Purple Knights, but the guests were victorious, 93-81.

For the Mavericks, Senior scored 22, while senior forward Kortney Parker (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) contributed a season-high 14 points. Sophomore forward Kirk Bailey (Freeport, N.Y.) had the game-high in rebounds with 10 off the bench.
