Field Hockey Defeats Richard Stockton, 2-0
Box Score DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2012) - On Tuesday afternoon, the Mercy College field hockey team took down the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey by a final score of 2-0. Sophomores Danielle Jones (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Kristine Carl (Kingston, N.Y.) scored for the Mavericks as they improved to 2-12 overall. The Ospreys fell to 4-11 on the year.
Carl had the first goal for Mercy when she netted her first marker of the season in the 13th minute of the game. It was unassisted as she took the ball out of a scrum at the top of the circle and then scored on an open net.
Jones scored her second goal of the year in the 38th minute. Off a rebound, junior Tracey Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.) passed the ball to Jones who fired it past the Ospreys' goalkeeper.
In net for the Mavericks, junior Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) made four saves. Jones added a pair of defensive saves.
Head Coach Kayte Kinsley and her troops will close out the 2012 campaign with a three-game road trip. The first stop will be at Ramapo College on Saturday when the Mavericks battle the Roadrunners at 4:00 p.m.
