Field Hockey Spars Against Limestone in South Carolina
Box Score GAFFNEY, S.C. (Oct. 26, 2012) - On Friday afternoon, the Mercy College field hockey team ventured down to Gaffney, S.C. to play against host Limestone College. The Saints defeated the Mavericks by a final score of 4-0. With the win, the Saints improved to 12-3 overall. Following the loss, the Mavericks slipped to 2-14 on the year.
The first half saw no scoring on either end of the field.
Beginning in the second stanza, Limestone was able to reel off a 4-0 run to take the victory. Starting in the 43rd minute, the Saints scored their first marker of the game. Rachel Goromonzi had two goals for the Saints, while Allyson Meyer and Kathleen Troutner had the other two tallies for the hosts.
In net for the Mavericks, junior goalkeeper Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) had nine saves.
Head Coach Kayte Kinsley and the Mavericks close out the 2012 campaign with an 11:00 a.m. early-bird contest against Lindenwood University on Limestone's campus Saturday morning.
