Women's Soccer Holds St. Thomas Aquinas to a Scoreless Draw in Season Finale

SPARKILL, N.Y. (Oct. 27, 2012) - On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College women's soccer team closed out its 2012 season with a 0-0 double-overtime tie with East Coast Conference-foe St. Thomas Aquinas College. With the draw, the Mavericks' overall record changed to 5-12-1, while their ECC ledger moved to 1-6-1. The Spartans' overall record moved to 5-9-2, while their conference slate changed to 0-6-2.

In her final match in goal for the Mavericks, senior netminder Stephanie DiLegge (Bay Shore, N.Y.) made two saves.

The Mavericks fired in many chances, but ultimately came up short. Sophomore Taylor Horgan (Long Beach, N.Y.) had three shots on goal, while junior Crystal Mena (Newport Beach, Calif.) came close to scoring on two occasions. The team had a total of nine shots on goal.

Mercy dominated in corner kicks by a large margin (12-1).
