DiLegge Makes Seven Saves in Women's Soccer Sparring Against No. 1 St. Rose
Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2012) - Despite seven saves from senior goalkeeper Stephanie DiLegge (Bay Shore, N.Y.), the Mercy College women's soccer squad fell to the No. 1 College of Saint Rose, 3-0 in Albany, N.Y. on Monday afternoon. With the win, the Golden Knights improved to 9-1-2 on the year, while the Mavericks fell to 3-10 overall.
The Golden Knights' first goal of the day came in the 37th minute when Brittany Barry scored. The two teams headed into the intermission with Saint Rose ahead, 1-0.
The hosts were able to get a pair of insurance goals in the second stanza to sure up a 3-0 victory.
For Mercy, junior back Caitlin McKenna (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) recorded two shots on goal, and the team notched a total of 10 shots in the contest, but the top-ranked team in the nation's defense came up inpenetrable today.
Head Coach Jonathan Feinstein and the Mavericks return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13 when they play at Nyack College at 12:00 p.m.
