Field Hockey Engages in Evening Battle with Kean

UNION, N.J. (Oct. 9, 2012) - On Tuesday evening, the Mercy College field hockey squad traveled to Union, N.J. to battle Kean University under the lights for a 7:30 p.m. showdown. The Mavericks, however, fell in the contest, 5-1. With the win, Kean improved to 6-8 overall, while Mercy slipped to 1-10 on the season.

Kean held most of the offensive advantages throughout the first half, netting four goals before halftime. Kean and Mercy each scored in the second stanza with sophomore forward Marissa Kluber (Wading River, N.Y.) scoring for the Mavericks in the 58th minute.

In goal, junior goalkeeper Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) had five saves, while freshman Jacque Tworkowski (South Berwick, Maine) notched one.

Head Coach Kayte Kinsley and the Mavericks return to action on Thursday when they faceoff against LIU Post at 4:00 p.m.
