DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Dec. 10, 2012) – Senior guard Aysha Williams (New Rochelle, N.Y.) got back into double-digits in scoring with 15 points to lead the Mercy College women's basketball team as the Mavericks hosted the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen on Monday night.

Williams led off the game by draining a three-pointer, but SNHU quickly took control and led by 30 at halftime, 47-17.  The second half was more of the same, eventually ending with an 89-42 loss for the Mavericks.  The Penmen grabbed an incredible 64 rebounds thanks to the Mavericks' 22.7 percent shooting from the field, despite hitting 25 percent of their three-point attempts.

Mercy's record falls to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the East Coast Conference while SNHU gets back to .500 at 4-4.

Williams added five rebounds, four assists and two blocks in another typical all-around performance while junior guard Maria Nardulli (Staten Island, N.Y.) came within one point of her career high, scoring 11 thanks to a career-high trio of three-pointers on 10 attempts.  Freshman guard Amber Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.) nailed both her free-throw attempts to boost her percentage to .882, which ranks second in the ECC.

Senior forward Sloane Sorrell (Berwick, Maine) led the Penmen with 16 points and 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year in only 16 minutes of game time.  Freshman guard Meghan Ballard (Rutland, Vt.) and junior forward Victoria Wiseman (Montreal, Quebec) added 15 and 13 points, respectively, with Wiseman also making five steals and freshman forward Erin Doherty (Marshfield, Mass.) grabbing 10 rebounds.

Head Coach Rashidi Aikens and the Mavericks will turn right around and head to Philadelphia, Pa. on Wednesday, Dec. 12 to take on Holy Family University (8-1) at 6:00 p.m.  The game will be broadcast online via Live Stats and video.
