Lewis Grabs 11 Rebounds for Women's Basketball at No. 10 Holy Family
Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Dec. 12, 2012) – Sophomore forward Shaniqua Lewis (Staten Island, N.Y.) crashed the boards for another double-digit rebound performance as the Mercy College women's basketball team faced off against No. 10 Holy Family University on Wednesday night.
Holy Family came out firing right away, putting up the first 19 points of the game and leading 46-11 by halftime. The Tigers extended their lead throughout the second half, ending with the game-high 51-point victory. Mercy dropped to 0-7 with the loss while Holy Family improved to 9-1.
Senior guard Aysha Williams (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and senior guard Alexis Monserrate (Locust Valley, N.Y.) each scored eight points to lead the Mavericks, with Williams adding five rebounds and three steals. Lewis pulled down 11 rebounds.
Senior center Erin Mann (West Chester, Pa.) led the Tigers with 12 points in just 13 minutes on the court as 12 players scored. She also added nine rebounds and three blocks, while senior guard Ana Cruz (Lititz, Pa.) netted 11 and freshman center Sarah Listenbee (Abington, Pa.) grabbed 10 boards as the Tigers outrebounded the Mavericks 66-36.
Head Coach Rashidi Aikens and the Mavericks will host Virginia State University on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 6:00 p.m.
