Sieber Selected as East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week
Box Score CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 13, 2012) - On Monday evening, the East Coast Conference announced that Mercy College sophomore hurler Mary Sieber (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) has been named the league's softball Pitcher of the Week for her outstanding performance in the Mavericks' season opener versus Millersville.
In the 2-0 victory over Millersville, Sieber spun an absolute gem - a four-hit, complete-game shutout. The Massapequa Park native whiffed four batters and walked none. Of the four hits she allowed, just one was for extra bases.
Last season, Sieber went 11-6 with a 3.30 earned run average, and was one of the workhorses for Head Coach Mike Fazio as she threw 118.2 total innings.
The Mavericks are currently 3-1 on the 2012 season and continue their Florida Spring Break trip tomorrow, Wednesday, March 14 with a doubleheader against Alderson-Broaddus and Pfeiffer beginning at 3:00 p.m.
