Ausiello and Couillard Named to ECC Softball Player of the Week Honor Roll

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 3, 2012) - On Monday evening, the East Coast Conference office issued its weekly awards for softball and Mercy College had senior Jenna Ausiello (Petaluma, Calif.) and freshman Jackie Couillard (Wolcott, Conn.) tabbed to the Player of the Week Honor Roll.

Ausiello had another tremendous week at the plate for the Mavericks as she racked up 10 hits in 28 at-bats (.357 BA). Over eight games this week, Ausiello drove in 11 runs, scored nine times, walked four times, smacked five doubles, and cranked two home runs. Her on-base percentage for the week came in at .438, while her slugging percentage was .750.

Couillard hit .368 this week (7-for-19) and drove in eight runs. The rookie hit two homers and had one double. She scored three times and had an on-base percentage of .350 and a slugging percentage of .737.

Earlier this season, Ausiello was named Week 3 Co-Player of the Week, while Couillard has been selected as Rookie of the Week following Week 2.

Head Coach Mike Fazio and the Mavericks return to action today when they play in Rockville Centre, N.Y. versus Molloy College in an ECC twinbill. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
