BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (Sept. 13, 2012) - On Wednesday evening, the Mercy College women's soccer team cruised by Bloomfield College, 5-0, in Bloomfield, N.J. With the win, the Mavericks improved to 2-4 overall. Following the defeat, the Deacons fell to 1-1 on the year.

Junior midfielder Stephanie Manta (Valley Stream, N.Y.) kicked off the scoring frenzy in the 14th minute, when she fired in a pass from junior Crystal Mena (Newport Beach, Calif.). Six minutes later, Mena was on the other end of a goal as she scored unassisted.

Freshman forward Dawn Hickey (Bohemia, N.Y.) headed in the Mavericks' third marker of the contest in the 39th minute. Hickey then notched her second goal of the game one minute later. Both of hers were unassisted.

In the second half, Mercy received its final goal from rookie forward Olivia Mavilla (Shelton, Conn.) as she scored with no help.

In net, freshman Cyera Smith (Jacksonville, Fla.) made seven saves in the shutout.

As a team, Mercy outshot Bloomfield, 13-10, and also held the advantage in corner kicks (9-2).

Head Coach Jonathan Feinstein and the Mavericks return to action on Saturday as they ignite East Coast Conference-play and battle Molloy College in Rockville Centre, Long Island. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. LiveStats will be available here, as will a live audio broadcast.
