Field Hockey Spars With Vassar in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Sept. 14, 2012) - On Friday afternoon, the Mercy College field hockey team played Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Mavericks, despite receiving a stellar effort from junior goalkeeper Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), who made 11 saves, Vassar defeated Mercy by a final score of 3-0.
The Mercy defense was inpenetrable through the first 32 minutes of the contest. In minute number 33, Enya Cunningham drew blood first for Vassar. Rebecca Smith had the assist.
The pair of Vassar insurance goals were both scored in a two-minute span (54' and 56').
Head Coach Kayte Kinsley and the Mavericks return to the field on Friday, September 21 when they travel to Nashua, N.H. to take on Daniel Webster College. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
