Women's Soccer Drops Tough Match Versus St. Anselm
Box Score BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. (Sept. 2, 2012) - On Sunday, the Mercy College women's soccer team squared off against Saint Anselm College at Pace University and lost, 3-0. With the victory, Saint Anselm improved to 1-1 overall. Following the loss, the Mavericks slipped to 1-1 on the young season.
Saint Anselm scored twice in the first half: one goal coming in the ninth minute and the other being scored at the 22nd minute of play. A third marker was added in the 57th minute as Saint Anselm was able to break through the Mavericks' defensive unit that was stingy in the season opener versus Pace.
Mercy sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Casey (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) made three saves.
