Field Hockey Hosts Limestone College on Campus Turf Field
Box Score DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 23, 2012) - On Sunday afternoon, the Mercy College field hockey team opened up the campus' new turf field against Limestone College. The Saints edged out the Mavericks, 4-0 and improved their record to 5-2 overall. Following the loss, the Mavericks slipped to 1-6 on the year.
Audrey King scored the game's first goal for Limestone in the 21st minute. The marker was recorded from eight yards out after beating a defender.
The contest remained a 1-0 in favor of the Saints through halftime.
Following the intermission, Rufaro Mushavi netted Limestone's second goal of the game. Six minutes later, Sara Parker found the back of the netting as well.
The Saints' final goal of the day was scored in the 65th minute when Jill Funkhouser scored off a rebound from a goalkeeper save.
In goal, Mercy junior goalkeeper Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) made 10 saves.
Head Coach Kayte Kinsley and the Mavericks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Garden City, Long Island to battle Adelphi University. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
