DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 19, 2013) - Junior Danielle Deeb (San Diego, Calif. / Academy of Our Lady of Peace) scored a goal in each half as the Mercy College Women's Soccer team defeated the Lions of Molloy College, 2-0. The Lions fall to 2-11 overall, and 2-4 in the East Coast Conference, while the Mavericks improve 10-2 overall, and 5-1 in the ECC.

The Mavericks struck early on a header by Deeb off a corner kick from senior Stephanie Manta (Valley Stream, N.Y. / Valley Stream Central) for a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. The Lions attempted to answer on a free kick in the 27th minute, but the shot was headed out by senior Crystal Mena (Newport Beach, Calif. / Santiago Canyon College).  Mercy led 1-0 at the break.

In the second half, the Mavericks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute as sophomore Dawn Hickey (Bohemia, N.Y. / Connetquot) made a beautiful cross to Deeb who headed it in for the goal. An intense game remained throughout, but Molloy failed to connect on any of the 14 shots taken in the half, and the Mavericks picked up the win.

For Mercy, sophomore Nicole Augustine (Kingston, N.Y. / Kingston) had two saves in 90 minutes of work.

Head Coach Jonathan Feinstein and the Mavericks return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 23, as they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on the Rams of Philadelphia University at 4:00 p.m.
