Znaniecki Makes 13 Saves as Field Hockey Faces No. 3 LIU Post
Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2013) – Senior Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue) had 13 saves as the Mercy College Field Hockey team fell to the Pioneers of LIU Post, 8-0.The Mavericks fall to 3-11, while the Pioneers improve to 15-0.
The Pioneers controlled most the first half, scoring three goals in the 7th, 11th, and 17th minutes respectively. Senior Nicole Bencsik (Telford, Pa. / Souderton Area) had an opportunity to score late in the first half but the shot was saved by a Pioneer defender. The Pioneers led 3-0 at halftime.
In the second half, freshman Jaclyn Ballin (Cupertino, Calif. / Cupertino) had a shot to score in the 56th minute but the shot was kicked out the goalie. The Pioneers scored five insurance goals to pick up the victory.
Head Coach Kayte Kinsley and the Mavericks return to action on Saturday Oct. 26, as they host the Golden Lions of Dowling College at 12:00 p.m.
