Mercy would get on the scoreboard in the 68th minute, however, as Vega scored on a backpass off a corner kick taken by senior Carla Hager (Palmdale, Calif. / Antalope Valley College) for a 1-0 lead. The Mavericks would score an insurance goal in the 87th minute as junior Jessica Carrillo (San Diego, Calif. / Hilltop) scored on a through ball from McKenna for the 2-0 lead.
