Losee Sets Career High as Women's Basketball Hosts ECC Foe No. 22 NYIT

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Feb. 11, 2013) – Freshman guard Danielle Losee (Merrick, N.Y.) set a new career high in tying for the team lead with 11 points as the Mercy College women's basketball squad hosted East Coast Conference foe No. 22 NYIT on Monday night.

The Bears took control early and never faltered, eventually winning 86-46.  The Bears improved to 20-1 overall and 12-1 in ECC play while Mercy dropped to 0-21 (0-13).

Losee hit three of her eight three-point attempts to share the scoring lead with senior guard Aysha Williams (New Rochelle, N.Y.), who shot an impressive 50 percent from the field and tied with junior guard Maria Nardulli (Staten Island, N.Y.) for the lead in steals (three).  Sophomore forward Shaniqua Lewis (Staten Island, N.Y.) grabbed six rebounds to lead the squad.

Sophomore guard Monique Walker (Mastic, N.Y.) led five Bears to score in double digits with 13 points in just 15 minutes.  Graduate wing Nikki Jo Rotolo (Rome, N.Y.) just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds in 20 minutes and junior guard Alex Venuto (Ossining, N.Y.) dished out four assists.

Head Coach Rashidi Aikens and the Mavericks will head to St. Thomas Aquinas College (12-11, 8-5) for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff on Wednesday, Feb. 13.
