DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Feb. 16, 2013) - In the penultimate home men's basketball game this season, Mercy College fell to LIU Post in East Coast Conference action this afternoon, 102-79. Senior forward Joseph Pope (Akron, Ohio) scored a team-high 23 points, but it wasn't enough as the Pioneers improved to 16-7 overall and 11-4 in the league. Mercy dropped to 4-19 (3-12 ECC).

Despite scoring 79 points, the Mavericks trailed the Pioneers from the start of the game. The Mavericks clicked on offense firing on 49.1% from the floor and nailing 18 of their 21 foul shots (85.7%).

However, Mercy wasn't able to thwart the Pioneers from beyond the arc as LIU Post converted on 14 of 26 three-pointers (53.8%). The Mavericks got to within nine points of tying the score, which was their closest margin, but the Pioneers proved to be too much.

Tobin Carberry netted 34 points for LIU Post, pacing the contest. Emile Blackman scored 23, while Tyuan Williams and Dillon Burns had 14 each.

For the Mavericks, Pope finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while junior guard Chaz Morrish (Douglaston, N.Y.) netted 15. Morrish set a new career-high in points.

Head Coach Adam Parmenter and the Mavericks close out the home portion of their 2012-13 schedule when they host Molloy College on Wednesday evening. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. Seniors Joseph Pope, Tracey Lewis and Jerrell Lawrence will be honored in their final home game in Dobbs Ferry.
