WASHINGTON, D.C. (Mar. 2, 2013) - On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College women's basketball squad closed out its 2012-13 campaign with an 84-43 loss to East Coast Conference-foe the University of the District of Columbia. With the win, the Firebirds improved to 10-18 (5-13 ECC). Following the defeat, the Mavericks slipped to 0-26 (0-18 ECC).

While the first half was strongly in the Firebirds' favor, as UDC outscored Mercy 50-15, the second half was a different story. The hosts outscored the Mavericks by a much smaller margin (34-28). However, the hole the Mavericks dug for themselves in the opening stanza was too deep to climb out of.

Senior Aysha Williams (New Rochelle, N.Y.) closed out her strong season with 14 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, while senior MarQuesha Moore (Bryans Road, Md.) recorded eight points and eight boards.

UDC had five players in double-digit scoring, including Snezana Blagojevic who had a game-high 18 points.

Head Coach Rashidi Aikens and the Mavericks have concluded their season. For all the program's offseason news and notes, please stay tuned to www.MercyAthletics.com.
