Serrao, Gardiner Selected to ECC Player of the Week Honor Roll

Box Score 2 CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 2, 2013) - On Monday evening, the East Coast Conference office released its weekly softball awards and a pair of Mercy College student-athletes were named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll -- junior pitcher Brittany Serrao (Lake Hiawatha, N.J.) and freshman catcher Amanda Gardiner (Stratford, N.J.).
Gardiner batted .538 (7-for-13) this past week, with two runs scored, three RBI and one walk.
Serrao threw 12 innings of shutout ball over two starts this past week against STAC and NYIT. She struck out nine batters in both wins, and held opposing hitters to a .095 batting average.
Gardiner, Serrao and their teammates return to the field today when they host Bridgeport for an ECC twinbill starting at 3:00 p.m.
