Softball Dominates Nyack Outscoring the Warriors, 24-0

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 22, 2013) - On Monday afternoon, the Mercy College softball team bulldozed over Nyack College in doubleheader action. In Game 1, the Mavericks cruised past the Warriors, 13-0 in five innings, while doing the same in Game 2, 11-0 in five innings. With the victories, the Mavericks bettered their record to 21-19, while the Warriors fell to 5-28.

In Game 1, the Mavericks pounded out 17 hits, including three each from Kimberly Crnkovich (La Selva Beach, Calif.) and Amanda Gardiner (Stratford, N.J.). Jessica Doria (Franklin Square, N.Y.), Kelly Bentson (Brewster, N.Y.) and Crnkovich drove in two runs each. Moreover, Crnkovich blasted a home run.

In the circle, Brittany Serrao (Lake Hiawatha, N.J.) gave up no hits in four innings, while striking out four. She improved her record to 9-5.

In Game 2, the Mavericks smashed four home runs -- one apiece from Crnkovich, Bentson, Doria and Jackie Couillard (Wolcott, Conn.). Crnkovich's was her second of the day.

In the circle, Mary Sieber (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) surrendered one hit in four innings, while fanning four batters.

Head Coach Mike Fazio and the Mavericks return to action tomorrow when they play an ECC twinbill at Molloy College starting at 3:00 p.m.
