Women's Lacrosse Closes Out Season with 13-6 Win Over Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Apr. 27, 2013) - On Saturday evening, the Mercy College women's lacrosse team defeated the University of Bridgeport in East Coast Conference action to close out the 2013 campaign, 13-6. Sophomore Michelle Tiernan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) had a hat trick to help improve Mercy's record to 7-7 and 3-4 in the league. Bridgeport fell to 5-9 and 0-6 in the ECC.

From the start, this game wall dominated by the Mavericks as Mercy scored eight times in the first half, while the Purple Knights netted only one goal.

Mercy's large lead from the first half, coupled with five goals in the second stanza, was enough to secure the season-ending 13-6 victory.

For Mercy, Tiernan scored three times, while junior Kelsey Bub (Cortland Manor, N.Y.), sophomore Marissa Kluber (Wading River, N.Y.) and junior Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) had two goals each. In the cage, senior Stephanie DiLegge (Bay Shore, N.Y.) had 11 saves.
