DOBBS FERRY, N.Y.- (Sept. 22, 2013) Junior Danielle Jones (Shrewsbury, Mass. / Shrewsbury ) scored and goalkeeper Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue) had 10 saves as the Mercy College field hockey team fell to the No. 7-ranked Limestone College, 3-1.  The Mavericks fall to 0-6, while the Saints improve to 5-1.

Limestone jumped on Mercy early, scoring just five minutes into the game to lead 1-0.  The Mavericks answered as Jones would score on a penalty stroke shot to tie the game up at 1-1 in the 16th minute. Limestone would retake the lead less than a minute later to go up 2-1 in the 17th minute. The score would remain the same at halftime.

In the second half, the Saints pushed the lead as they scored in the 46th minute to lead 3-1. Mercy had a few openings, but failed to put the ball in the back of the cage as the Mavericks fell to the Saints.

For Mercy, senior Nicole Bencsik (Telford, Pa. / Souderton Area), junior Giana Magosin (Pleasantville, N.J. / Egg Harbor Township) , and junior Yolie Nyero (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) combined for nine of the 12 total shots taken, and six out eight shots taken on goal.

Head Coach Kayte Kinsley and the Mavericks return to action on Friday, Sept. 27, as they host the Cougars of Kean University at 4:00 p.m.
