Brenna White Ranks in Top 10 of Division II Volleyball in Multiple Stats
Box Score DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2013) – Mercy College volleyball junior Brenna White (Gardnerville, Nev. / Douglas) has moved up to rank fifth in Division II in kills per set with 4.67. She also ranks 10th in points per set with 4.94. Senior Mallorie Hopkins (Commerce, Calif. / Pasadena City College) also ranks 19th in the nation with 5.42 digs per set.
NCAA statistics
White dominated on both sides of the net this week as the Mavericks went 2-1, recording three double-doubles as she averaged 4.64 kills and 3.79 digs per set while adding five blocks. She posted 18 kills and 22 digs in the tight 3-2 loss at Nyack College on Wednesday, then smacked 10 kills while making 10 digs in the 3-1 win at Felician College on Thursday. She also posted her first 20-20 game of the season, notching a whopping 28 kills on a .281 hitting percentage and recording 21 digs in the thrilling 3-2 win over Assumption College in the home opener on Saturday. White has posted six double-doubles in her nine matches this season.
White was also recognized in this week's East Coast Conference Player of the Week awards for the second time this year, making the Honorable Mention list after winning Player of the Week in Week One. Hopkins impressed during the week as well, posting her fifth consecutive 21-plus dig game.
Head Coach Kelly Wengerter and the Mavericks will open conference play tonight at Queens College (6-1).
