KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 6th , 2013) – Junior Yolie Nyero (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) scored Mercy's lone goal of the game, as the Mavericks fell to the Knights of Bellarmine University in the Joshua W. Wesner Tournament at Kutztown University, 5-1. The Mavericks fall to 0-1 on the season, while the Knights improve to 1-0.

The Knights came out the box early scoring just three minutes into the game. After a Tracy Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y. / Rocky Point) shot was blocked, Nyero scooped up the ball to knot the game at one score apiece. The Mavericks played strong defense, but two Bellarmine goals late in the half pushed the lead to 3-1, going into the break.

In the second half, the Mavericks didn't give up, as they attempt to erase the deficit with shots taken by Kristine Carl (Kingston, N.Y. / Kingston), Nyero, Wandle, Marcella Mitro (Pine Plains, N.Y. / Stissing Mountain), and Jaclyn Ballin (Cupertino, Calif. / Cupertino). Mercy couldn't close the gap as Bellarmine would add two more scores to seal the game.
