White Posts Double-Double as Volleyball Faces Goldey-Beacom
Box Score WILMINGTON, Del. (Oct. 11, 2014) – Senior Brenna White (Gardnerville. Nev. /Douglas) posted a double-double with 18 kills and 16 digs, as the Mercy College volleyball team faced the Lighting of Goldey-Beacom on Saturday morning.
The Lighting improve to 10-10, while the Mavericks fall to 4-15.
In the first set, Mercy took a five point lead on a kill by junior Abi Foti (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) and three straight kills by White. The Lighting stormed back and tied the set up at 25-25. Mercy had a chance to win the set, but Kadi McCoy responded with back-to-back kills for Goldey-Beacom.
The Lighting completed dominated the second set from start to finish, winning 25-13.
In the final set, back-to-back kills for senior Sonia Morales (San Fernando, Calif./L.A Mission College) and an ace for White tied the set at 20-20. Goldey-Beacom then rallied off five straight points to win the set.
For Mercy, Senior McKenna Ronan (Chandler, Ariz. /Seton Catholic Prep) had 38 assists, while Morales added nine kills
Head Coach Kelly Wengerter and the Mavericks return to action on Thursday Oct. 16, as they will travel to Brookville, N.Y. to take on the Pioneers of LIU Post University at 7:00 p.m.
