Dashi Fires Men's Soccer To Early Lead Against Roberts Wesleyan

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Oct. 5, 2014)- Senior Roberto Dashi (Nyack, N.Y. / Clarkstown South) scored as the Mercy College men's soccer team faced the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan College on Sunday afternoon.

The Redhawks improve to 6-2-2 overall, and 3-2-0 in the East Coast Conference with the 3-1 victory, while the Mavericks fall to 2-8 overall and 2-2 in the ECC.

The Mavericks lit up the scoreboard first, as senior Danny Leon Jr. (Flushing, N.Y. / Benjamin Cardozo) played a ball into the box, which was headed in by Dashi for the 1-0 lead in the third minute.

The Redhawks didn't look back as they scored three unanswered goals to secure the 3-1 victory.

For Mercy, senior Chuong Tran (West Nyack, N.Y. / Rockland CC) took three shots, including one on goal, while sophomore Luis Lizarzaburu (Yorktown Heights, N.Y. / Yorktown) played all 90 minutes and made two saves.

Head Coach Chris Smith and the Mavericks return to action on Wednesday Oct. 8, as they travel to Nyack, N.Y. to take on the Warriors of Nyack College at 3:00 p.m.
