Zorn Nets Third Goal of the Season as Field Hockey Faces Bellarmine on Senior Day
Box Score DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2014)- Sophomore Randi Zorn (Lindenhurst, N.Y. / Lindenhurst) scored off an assist from freshman Geraldine Grandprez (Wanze, Belgium / IHECS Bruxelles), as the Mercy College field hockey team faced the Knights of Bellarmine University on Senior Day.
The Knights improve to 9-8 with the 5-1 victory, while the Mavericks finish the 2014 campaign at 1-16.
Alexis Van Wallaghen scored two unanswered to give Bellarmine a 2-0 lead at the half.
The Knights continued to roll in the second half, as they scored another three unanswered to lead 5-0 midway through the second half. Mercy finally got on the board, as Grandprez crossed the ball to Zorn and she tapped it in for the score.
For Mercy, freshman Olivia Kelly (West Islip, N.Y. / West Islip) made six saves in 70 minutes of work.
Before the game, Head Coach Kayte Kinsley and assistant coach Kelly Blair honored six senior student-athletes for their hard work and dedication. Those senior were Kelsey Bub (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. / Iona College), Marissa Kluber (Wading River, N.Y. / Shoreham-Wading River), Giana Magosin (Pleasantville, N.J. / Egg Harbor Township), Marie Roser (Port Ewen, N.Y. / Kingston), Kristine Carl (Kingston, N.Y. / Kingston) and Danielle Jones (Shrewsbury, Mass. / Shrewsbury).
