The Mavericks fall to 2-22 overall and 1-18 in the East Coast Conference, while the Bears improve to 15-8 overall and 11-6 in the ECC.
Mercy traded baskets with the Bears early and took a four-point lead at 12-8 off a layup by freshman Jasmyne Hurley (Memphis, Tenn. / Olive Branch) and a three-pointer by Salomone on back-to-back trips down the floor. Sophomore Amber Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y. / Baldwin) and Salomone both nailed a pair of free throws to maintain a 16-14 lead with 10:23 left in the half.
