McQuade Named ECC Player of the Week, Greig and Grudzinski Make Honor Roll

Box Score 2 CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 10, 2014) – Mercy College baseball junior Anthony McQuade (Lindenhurst, N.Y. / Chestnut Hill College) has been named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week for Week Three. Junior Bryan Greig (New City, N.Y. / Clarkstown South) and freshman Michael Grudzinski (Islip, N.Y. / Islip) made the Honor Roll as well.

This is McQuade's first award this season. He batted 5-for-12 for a .417 batting average over four games, also posting a .667 slugging percentage. McQuade totaled seven RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases. In the season-opening victory against his former team in Chestnut Hill, McQuade went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles and one run scored.
Greig pitched six no-hit innings and struck out six in the Mavericks' 4-1 season-opening win against Chestnut Hill and Grudzinski posted a .500 batting average on 5-for-10 with three runs scored, two RBI and one stolen base. Grudzinski was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in his freshman debut in an 11-3 victory over Chestnut Hill.
Head Coach Bob Greiner and the Mavericks return to action on Thursday, Mar. 13 as they continue their stay in sunny South Florida, when they will face the Mountain Cats of Pitt-Johnstown University at 12:00 p.m.
