Cleary and Gismondi Drive in Both Runs as Baseball Hosts Bridgeport
Box Score DOBBS FERRY, N.Y (Apr. 11, 2014) – Freshman Dan Cleary (Smithtown, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) and junior Joseph Gismondi (East Meadow, N.Y. / East Meadow) drove in both runs as the Mercy College baseball team fell to the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport, 12-2.
The Purple Knights improve to 10-17-1 overall and 4-9 in the ECC, while the Mavericks fall to 9-16 and 6-6 in the ECC.
Mercy's first run came in the bottom of the fourth inning as Gismondi doubled to center to score junior Chris Salvo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y. / Lakeland), who reached base on a walk. The other Mavericks run come in the bottom of the sixth, when sophomore Scott Hagan (Mamaroneck, N.Y. / Mamaroneck [SUNY Binghamton]) led off the inning by tripling to left center and then junior Sal Palumbo (Medford, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) reached on a walk, setting up Cleary for the RBI single to score Hagan.
Head Coach Bob Greiner and the Mavericks return to action, tomorrow, Apr. 12, as they travel to Bridgeport, Conn. to face the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
