DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2014) – Seniors Brenna White (Gardnerville, Nev. / Douglas) and McKenna Ronan (Chandler, Ariz. / Seton Catholic Prep) each recorded double-doubles as the Mercy College volleyball team hosted the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday night.

The Golden Knights left with the 3-1 win to improve to 3-2 this season, while the Mavericks are now 2-5.

Despite impressive defense from the Mavericks' part, they fell behind 1-0 as the offense struggled in the first set.  Mercy bounced right back in the second set with a 25-14 win to tie the match.  The Golden Knights came away with the third set, however, and a late surged propelled them to a tight 25-22 victory in the fourth set to take the match.

White's 16 kills led the match and she completed her fifth straight and sixth total double-double of the season with 13 digs.  Ronan made 27 assists and completed her second double-double in as many days with 10 digs.  Sophomore Floriana Rraci (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. / Walter Panas) led five Mavericks to record double-digit digs, with 20, and was followed by sophomore Niccole Soriano (Elizabeth, N.J. / Thomas A. Edison) and junior Abi Foti (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford), who posted 13 and 11, respectively.

Head Coach Kelly Wengerter and the Mavericks will open East Coast Conference play when they host LIU Post (4-5) on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 7:00 p.m.
