The Mavericks (6-21, 1-9 ECC) drop both ends of their annual Western New York trip, while the Wildcats (12-11, 7-3 ECC) have now won two in a row.

Olson also added six digs, while fellow freshman Brianna Heffernan (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) chipped in 12 digs. Freshman Brooke Runge (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Demarest) distributed 15 assists and sophomore Sa'Naya Johnson (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) produced four kills and four blocks.

Daemen received a match-high-tying 12 kills from Ashley Drzymala who also added eight digs.

The Wildcats got off to a strong start in the match and did not look back as they hit an efficient .262 on their way to the straight-set win.

The first set saw Daemen score the first three points of the frame before Mercy came back with three unanswered to even the score up at 3-3. The home team responded with a 14-6 run to build a 17-9 advantage and held on for the win to take a 1-0 lead.

The Mavericks started off the second set with a 5-2 set, but the lead was short lived as the Wildcats ensued with a 6-0 run to take an 8-5 lead. Daemen used the run to take control of the set and build a 2-0 advantage.

The two teams battled it out in the final set as a back-and-forth affair broke out early on. Mercy began the frame with a 5-2 lead following a Johnson kill before the teams traded the lead multiple times. With the score tied at 11-11, the Wildcats went on a 3-0 spurt to get a 14-11 lead. However, the Mavericks followed with a 4-0 run capped off by an Olson kill to take a 15-14 lead, forcing a Daemen timeout. Out of the timeout, the Wildcats scored six of the next seven points to retake the lead and increase it up to 20-16. Daemen would hold off a late Mercy rally to seal the set and come away with the win.

The Mavericks hit .079 on the day with 22 kills and 36 digs, while the Wildcats ended the contest with 47 kills and 50 digs.

Head Coach Kelly Wengerter and the Mavericks will return home to host Dowling on Tuesday, October 27th at 7 p.m.
