Women's Soccer advances to ECAC Tournament Final after 3-1 Shootout Win

The Mavericks now advance to 9-6-2 and will continue their post season run. With the loss, the Pace Setters season will come to an end with a final record of 8-7-4.

After two missed shoot out attempts, the Mavericks were down 1-0 in penalty kicks until freshman Corinna Ferrante answered back and scored to put the Mavericks on the board. After another missed penalty kick from the Setters, freshman Molly O'Callaghan and redshirt freshman Ileen Mejia sealed the win for the Mavericks scoring on back to back penalty kicks.

The Mavericks dominated the stat sheet in all categories offensively and defensively. Mercy outshot the Setters 10-6, with nine of those shots being fired off in regulation time. The Mavericks also had six corner kicks compared to the Setters four.

With two key saves from sophomore goal keeper Ashley Price, the Setters were unable to score in regulation time or both overtimes. Price played the full 110 minutes and had a total of two saves. Aisha Chauhan also played the full 110 minutes for the Setters and made ten saves.

Mejia had two shots throughout the contest, with both of them being on goal. Sophomore Heidi Serna and freshman Haley Noble both fired off two shots, with one of each being on goal. O'Callaghan, freshman Lauren Calderaro, freshman Kendall Wright, and sophomore Alyssa Iannuzzi all contributed one shot for the Mavericks offense.

For the Setters, the offense was led by Drew Ribadeneyra who had two shots. Cydney Borner and Delany Williams both helped out with one shot in the contest that were both on goal. Emma Sinanan and Natalie Marrone both added one shot. All of the Setters shots were taken in regulation time.

Head Coach Jonathan Feinstein and the Mavericks will face the winner of No. 1 Merrimack vs. No. 4. Post in the ECAC Tournament finals on Sunday Nov. 15 at Post University.
