Leading four in double figures for Chestnut Hill was Caity Kuhnen who had a team-high 13 points and four assists.

After dropping a 67-49 decision to the Griffins on the road a year ago, the Mavericks came out with something to prove and a three-pointer by sophomore Casey Sullivan (East Lyme, Conn./Saint Bernard) 11 seconds into the contest helped set the tone. Kuhnen responded with a three on the next possession, but Mercy ensued with a 13-0 run to build a 16-3 lead at the 3:43 mark of the first quarter and would lead the rest of the way.

After a Jaeda Wildgoose layup got Chestnut Hill to within eight, 18-10, Perez knocked down one of her three trifectas on the day to up the lead back to 11, 21-10, with 1:58 left in the opening period. The Griffins got within six, 21-15, with 36 seconds left in the frame, but Perez followed with three unanswered to give the Mavericks a 24-15 advantage after one quarter.

The visitors opened up the second quarter with a 3-0 spurt to cut the deficit to six, 24-18, and looked to be making a run to get back into the game. However, Mercy came back with a 10-1 run over the next three minutes to increase the lead to 15, 34-19, with six minutes left before half. Chestnut Hill slowly got back in the game and cut the deficit to single digits at the 3:15 mark, but the Mavericks closed the period out on an 8-4 run to take a 44-31 lead into halftime.

Mercy was able to build the lead in the first half due to their best shooting day of the season, shooting 48.6 percent from the floor in the half and 5-of-9 from downtown. The Mavericks held the Griffins in check as the visitors shot only 28.6 percent in the first stanza and went only 3-of-13 from beyond the arc.

The third quarter saw Mercy pick up where they left off in the first half as they held Chestnut Hill to just ten points in the frame and built the lead up to a game-high 22 points, 63-41, following a pair of Clark free throws with 12 seconds left.

The Griffins outscored the Mavericks 25-14 in the final quarter but could not get closer than nine and Mercy held on for the victory, reaching a season high in points on the day.

The Mavericks ended the day shooting a season-high 43.9 percent (29-of-66) from the floor and went 7-of-15 from downtown. Chestnut Hill shot just 28.9 percent (22-of-76) from the field, while maintaining a 53-48 edge on the glass.
