MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Feb. 20, 2015)- The Mercy College baseball team returns to the diamond for this weekend's trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., as they play five games in three days, all against opponents from the Northeast-10 Conference.

Scouting the Mavericks

Junior Scott Hagan hit. 237 last season and led the team in five different statistical categories.

Senior Bryan Greig posted a 5-3 record with five complete game and one shutout.

Junior Christian Hock had the lowest ERA on the team at 2.51 and pitched two complete games

Sophomore Michael Grudzinski started 37 games with 19 hits and five RBI's.

 

Scouting the Skyhawks

The Skyhawks open their 2015 campaign against the Mavericks, after posting a 30-20 overall record and a 17-10 record in the NE-10. Senior Shortstop Dan Fratus hit .280 with 28 RBI's ten doubles and four homeruns, while junior Brian Campell led the team in batting average at .318 with 24 RBI's 16 double and three triples. Senior Armand Rugel was an All-NE-10 selection as a closer and sophomore Jeremy Roberts made the All-NE-10 Rookie Team.

 

Scouting the Owls

The Owls dropped a three game series to Barry University last weekend in Miami. Matt Burns had a .500 batting average with six hits and a double, while Julian Sobin posted a .400 batting average with four hits, a double, and an RBI. Alex Wichmann and McNeill Finnegan have both drove in two RBI's apiece.

 

Scouting the Penmen

The Penmen dropped a three game series to Nova Southeastern last weekend in Fort Lauderdale. Sophomore Carson Helms posted a .545 batting average with six hits, two RBI's, a double and a homer, while fellow classmate Manny Cruz posted a .385 batting average with five hits and two RBI's. Senior Cole Warren struck out five batters in four innings pitched.  SNHU will face the University of Bridgeport and Felician College before they square off with the Mavericks on Saturday.

 

Scouting the Ravens

The Ravens are the six-time NCAA regional and the three time defending NE-10 champions, enough said. Franklin Pierce was picked in the coaches' poll to repeat as the champions this season. Junior Matthew O'Herron posted .308 batting average with 53 hits, 29 RBI's and nine doubles. Catcher Matt Walsh returns for his senior campaign, as he hit .303 with 61 hits, 40 RBI's 12 doubles and seven homers in 2014.
