Baseball Faces Defending NE-10 Champions Franklin Pierce in South Carolina Trip Finale

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Feb. 22, 2015)- Freshman John Young (New Hyde Park, N.Y. / Archbishop Molloy) went 2-for-4 with a RBI, and senior Bryan Greig (New City, N.Y. / Clarkstown South) went 2-for-4 with a double as the Mercy College baseball team dropped the finale to the Ravens of Franklin Pierce, 8-2 on Sunday Morning .

The Ravens improve to 4-0, while the Mavericks fall to 0-5 overall.

The Ravens homered to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third, but the Mavericks answered in the top half of the fourth. Junior Justin Palladino (Yonkers, N.Y. /Westchester C.C.) scored on a wild pitch to even the game at 1-1. Franklin Pierce broke the game wide open as they scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth. Mercy scored in the top of the eigith, eventhrough the game was already decided. 

Junior Scott Hagan (Mamaroneck, N.Y. / SUNY Binghamton) went 2-for-4, while Palladino went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Matt O'Herron went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI to lead the Ravens.

Head Coach Jason Lamando and the Mavericks return to action on Friday, Feb. 27, as they will host the Chargers of the University of New Haven in the 2015 home opener. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
