Parish Has a Career Night as Women's Basketball Closes Out Season with Victory Over CNR

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (Mar. 2, 2015)- Junior Tatiana Parish (Los Angeles, Calif. / Mt. San Antonio CC)  finished with a career-high 22 points, including connecting on a career-high six triples, as the Mercy College women's basketball team closed out the 2014-15 season with a 80-49 victory over the Blue Angels from the College of New Rochelle on Monday evening.

Senior Brandone Roberts (Jessup, Md. / Nyack College) collected a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds as the Mavericks finish the 2014-15 season at 9-19 overall. Jah-Leah Ellis led the Blue Angels with 27 points, as they finish their season at 11-11 overall.

The game was extremely tight when the Blue Angels took a 20-18 lead on a pair of Allyson Pechin free throws with 7:22 remaining. Parish would break the game wide open, as she connected on four triples in the final seven minutes to close out the half on a 21-4 run. Mercy held a 41-24 advantage at the half.

Parish led all scorers with 14 points, while Ellis had 12.

The Mavericks rolled in the second half as the Blue Angels had no answer for Roberts, who compiled 16 points and eight rebounds in the latter 20.

Mercy closes out the season with nine wins, which is the most since the 2008-09 season. Senior Tanayzha Augustine (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. / Poughkeepsie) cracked the 500 rebound mark and Head Coach Rashidi Aikens continues to build for the future with 10 of the 13 players returning for next season. The two conference wins also is the most since the 2008-09 season.
