Scouting the Mavericks

The Mavericks dropped two games to the defending National Champion Pioneers of LIU Post University to open conference play. Michelle Duford hit an RBI single in two game of the doubleheader to score Amanda Gardiner, but the game was halted in the five inning due to rain. Jackie Couillard is still the team leader in hits (13), RBI's (4) and doubles (3). She managed to get three hits over two games, including going 2-for-3 in the rain shorten second game. Taylor Holmes has a team leading 1.24 ERA, while Anna Cochis and Holly Pundick are tied for the team lead in strikeouts with eight.

Scouting the Knights

The Knights enter Sunday's contest winning four out of the last six games. Cat Pastor had a huge game in the 12-9 loss to STAC on Wednesday. Pastor went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a RBI. Pastor has a .378 batting average with 14 hits, seven runs scored and six RBI's. Monique Roberge is on pace for some big numbers this season, as she has posted a .349 batting average with 15 hits and 14 RBI's in just 14 games. The Knights have a strong duo in the circle this season. ECC Preseason Co-Pitcher of the Year Isabelle Yaroch has a 1.64 ERA with 13 strikeouts and 1-1 record in 21.1 innings pitched. Yaroch also has tossed two complete game and is the only player to record a save this season. Freshman ToniMarie Valeriano currently leads the team with a 1.62 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched. Valeriano has a 3-2 record with 18 strikeouts.
