Kleet and McNally Both Net Goals as Women's Lacrosse Faces No. 4 LIU Post

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 4, 2015)- Freshman Nicole Kleet (Huntington Station, N.Y. / Walt Whitman) and redshirt senior Meg McNally (Hillburn, N.Y. / Lock Haven Univ.) both netted a goal as the Mercy College women's lacrosse team fell to the No. 4 Pioneers of LIU Post, 13-2, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Pioneers held a 6-0 lead, when Kleet converted on a free position shot to put the Mavericks on the scoreboard with 6:45 remaining in the half. Post scored one more time before the break, to take a 7-1 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Mavericks came out more aggressive and attacked the cage with reckless abandon, but couldn't convert on any of the shots taken.

The Pioneers would stretch the lead to 12-1, when McNally found the back of the net off an assist from fellow classmate Keri Watson (Massapequa Park, N.Y. / Massapequa) with 1:02 remaining.

Junior Nicole Augustine (Kingston, N.Y. / Kingston) finished with three caused turnovers and two groundballs, while sophomore Jen Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y. / Rocky Point) had four groundballs.

Sophomore Jillian Rocco (Dix Hills, N.Y. / Half Hollow Hills East) made six saves and had three groundballs in 60 minutes of action between the pipes, while sophomore Tori DiFusco (Mahopac, N.Y. /SUNY Cortland) finished with one groundball and one draw control. Mercy outshot the Pioneers in the second half, 12-9 and went even on groundballs for the game, 20-20.

Head Coach Dawn Anselmin and the Mavericks return to action on Friday, Mar. 6th, as they will travel to the nation's capital to take on the Firebirds of UDC at 7:00 p.m.
