DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 1, 2015) - The Mercy College baseball team opens the month of April hosting the Cougars of Caldwell University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday.

Scouting the Mavericks

The Mavericks were swept by the two time defending East Coast Conference champion Spartans of Saint Thomas Aquinas College over the weekend. Sophomore Bryan Gutierrez hit an inside the park home run in Friday's 4-3 walk off loss, while junior Justin Palladino went 3-for-5 with three RBI's in Saturday's loss.  Senior Bryan Grieg currently leads the team in strikeouts with 30 and RBI's with 11. Sophomore Matt Nalbone has a 2.05 ERA and has tossed two complete games.  

Scouting the Cougars

The Cougars enter Wednesday's contest on a seven game losing streak, with their last victory coming on March 17th against Molloy College (11-3) in Boca Raton, Florida. Ryan Rivera is the only Cougar player to play in all 16 games this season. Rivera has a .274 batting average with 17 hits, 11 RBI's, 10 runs scored, two triples, two homeruns and one double. Dominick Orlando shares the team lead in hits with Rivera at 17. Orlando has a .288 batting average with seven RBI's, four runs scored and four doubles. Robert Humes has a team leading 1.14 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 23.1 innings pitched.
