Patterson Tosses Complete Game as Baseball Travels to Nyack

UPPER NYACK, N.Y. (Apr. 11, 2015)- Junior James Patterson (Cornwall, N.Y./ Cornwall) tossed a complete game with three strikeouts as the Mercy College baseball team dropped a non-conference game to the Warriors of Nyack College, 2-1, at Nyack High School on Saturday afternoon.

Cole Tobin and Hilario Vidaurre both recorded an RBI for the Warriors who improve to 7-20 overall. Freshman Nick Daley (Glenwood Landing, N.Y. / North Shore) went 1-for-2 for the Mavericks who fall to 7-18 overall.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the third, when Tobin smacked an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead. Nyack would take a 2-0 lead in the top of the ninth, when Vidaurre hit an RBI double to score Nick McConnell.

The Mavericks scored in the home half of the ninth, when junior Scott Hagan (Mamaroneck, N.Y. / SUNY Binghamton)  reached on an error by the shortstop and then scored on Daley's single after an error by the leftfielder.

Senior Bryan Greig (New City, N.Y. / Clarkstown South), junior Justin Palladino (Yonkers, N.Y. / Westchester C.C.) and Hagan all recorded hits in the game. Patterson took the loss and falls to 1-5 overall, while Erik Bussey picked up the victory and improves to 1-4.

Head Coach Jason Lamando and the Mavericks will return to action tomorrow, Apr. 12th, in Waterbury, Conn. against the Eagles of Post University in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m
