DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 24, 2015) - The Mercy College softball team will close out the final weekend of the regular season, facing the Bears of NYIT on Saturday and the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College on Sunday in a non-conference clash.

Scouting the Mavericks

Jackie Couillard reached her 200th career hit in the nightcap of a split with Nyack College on Friday. Couillard went 3-for-6 with six runs scored, while Michelle Duford was a perfect 6-for-6 with seven RBI's and four runs scored. Couillard is now six hits shy of passing Kelly Bentson of first all-time Mercy history. Duford and Adriana Bencomo both homered in the spilt. Mercy scored 12 runs on 12 hits in the 12-2 victory. Anna Cochis struck out three batters and picked up her fifth victory of the season.

Scouting the Bears

NYIT is riding a three game winning streak, including winning seven out of their last eight games. They have notched sweeps over Nyack, STAC and Dowling. The Bears spilt a doubleheader with the Pioneers of LIU Post, taking a 14-6 victory in the nightcap. Senior Chelsea Gourdin has a team leading .423 batting average with 60 hits, 36 runs scored, eight RBI's, three doubles and seven stolen bases. Junior Tori Duquette has a .421 batting average with 67 hits, 38 hits, 21 RBI's, 14 double and five triples. Duquette went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI in the 14-6 victory over LIU Post on Apr. 21st. Junior Carly Wade is the ace of the pitching staff with a 2.31 ERA, 69 strikeouts, 15 complete games, five saves and a 16-8 record in 142.1 innings pitched. Junior Lia Matz has a 7-4 record with a 3.78 ERA in 79.2 innings pitched.

Scouting the Lightning

 The Lightning are on a eight game losing streak after being swept by Caldwell, Post, Nyack, and Georgian Court. In fact, GBC earned its first sweep of the season with (22-1, 13-0) victories over Lincoln (PA.) on Apr. 7th. Kelsey Brandle leads the team in batting average (.291), hits (25), runs scored (19) and triples (5). Freshman Kylie Doyle has a 3.10 ERA with a 1-8 record and 31 strikeouts in 79.0 innings pitched. Doyle also leads the team in RBI's with 11. Doyle went 3-for-4 with six RBI's and three runs scored in the 22-1 victory over Lincoln.
