Patterson Records RBI as Baseball Travels to Molloy
Box Score UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Apr. 25, 2015)- Junior James Patterson (Cornwall, N.Y. / Cornwall) went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the top of the ninth as the Mercy College baseball team dropped an East Coast Conference contest to the Lions of Molloy College, 20-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Kevin Podell went 4-for-4 with three RBI's and three runs scored for the Lions who improve to 20-19 overall and 8-11 in the ECC. Junior Scott Hagan (Mamaroneck, N.Y. / SUNY Binghamton) went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the Mavericks who fall to 11-25 overall and 5-14 in the ECC.
The Lions scored a run in every inning, expect for the fourth and seventh. Molloy held a 19-0 lead when Patterson singled to left field to score Hagan, who doubled down the left field line to start the inning. Alex Brosnan pitched a complete game with 17 strikeouts, while junior Christian Hock (Trumbull, Conn. / Franklin Pierce Univ.) took the loss and struck out four batters. Freshmen Manny Velasquez (Bronx, N.Y. / Cardinal Hayes) and Vincent Vacco (Cresskill, N.J. / Cresskill) both made relief appearances for the Mavericks.
Head Coach Jason Lamando and the Mavericks will close out the season series with the Lions of Molloy College in Uniondale, N.Y. on Monday Apr. 27th at 3:30 p.m.
