DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (May 3, 2015)- Senior Bryan Greig (New City, N.Y. / Clarkstown South) went 3-for-4 with three RBI's and collected his first save of the season as the Mercy College baseball team closed the 2015 campaign with an 8-5 victory over the Knights of Queens College on senior day at Mercy Field.

Junior Scott Hagan (Mamaroneck, N.Y. / SUNY Binghamton) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored for the Mavericks who finish their season at 13-28 overall and 7-17 in the East Coast Conference. Kevin Kolesar went 3-for-5 with two runs scored for the Knights who finish their season at 13-22 overall and 9-15 in the ECC.

Queens took an early 1-0 lead, in the top of the first, on an RBI single by Diego Gonzalez. In the bottom half of the inning, the Mavericks answered with three runs on three hits. Freshman Liam Slattery (Floral Park, N.Y. / Archbishop Molloy) started the inning with a walk, before three consecutive bunts were laid down by senior Blake Hasbrouck (Middletown, N.Y. / Orange CC), Hagan and Greig, allowing Slattery to cross the plate. Senior Sal Palumbo (Medford, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) would increase the Mercy lead to 3-1, as he hit a two RBI single to clear the bases.

The Knights evened the game at 3-3 in the sixth, as Kolesar stole home and Gonzalez scored on a throwing error. In the bottom of the sixth, the Mavericks put together another three run inning as Hagan and Greig both recorded RBI's to give Mercy a 6-3 lead.  Despite the Knights closing the gap, the Mavericks never relinquished the lead for the rest of the game.

Queens continued to stay within striking distance as they scored on a wild pitch and a RBI groundout to dwindle the Mavericks lead to 6-5. In the eighth, the Mavericks answered with two more insurance runs, including an inside the park homerun by Slattery and a RBI double by Greig to score Hagan, who doubled to reach base.

Greig capped off his stellar senior day by making a relief appearance and collecting a save to give Mercy their final victory of 2015.
